Join us in Florence, Italy for a week of creativity, painting, art from the Renaissance, relaxation, and exploration, all while becoming immersed in Italian culture. This week-long retreat will awaken your creative side, while allowing you to cultivate a community with other inspired people, and enjoy all that Italy has to offer.
The retreat will begin on Sunday with a studio orientation, followed by a Florence city walking tour, discussing customs, habits, and the culture of Italy with long time resident, Charles and his Italian wife, Melania. The tour will finish at Piazzale Michelangelo, one of the most captivating views of Firenze (Florence in Italian!) for an evening apertivo. Charles and Melania are the founders and professors at Florence School of Fine Arts and were Kayla's mentors and professors while studying in Florence.
Lodging will be in a charming apartment in the middle of the city with the art studio in walking distance. Watch the sun rise with a complimentary & traditional Italian breakfast in the apartment, or head to one of the many cafés for a cappuccino before class.
Gather at 9:00am for studio classes each morning, taught by Kayla Weber Nord. These classes will harvest your creative side and allow you to explore painting in an inspiring environment.
Spend the afternoons painting on your own, exploring the museums and churches, shopping, taking a wine tour, or simply grabbing a gelato and people watching. Wander through the streets and drink in the sights and smells of one of the most amazing cities in Europe. In the evenings, head to one of the many local restaurants, sit out under the lights, drink the incredible wine, and converse over a true Italian meal.
Throughout the week and weekend you are encouraged to travel to nearby cities by train, to see the Italian countryside and other towns in Italy. Kayla is there for your every need and will help plan your day adventures, as well as give you all the best places to visit within Florence.
The retreat will include 4 classes with Kayla at the famous Giorgio Vasari studio space, now known as The Florence School of Fine Arts. No prior painting skills or knowledge necessary, and every lesson will be tailored to each person based on skill level. Novice to advanced painters are welcome!
We plan to eat well, drink amazing wine, have fellowship with other creatives, learn about Italian culture, and leave the retreat feeling refreshed, inspired, and rejuvenated.
